Site Selection Criteria
Saturated Buffers
- Patterned tile system with 6-12 inch outlet
- At least 400 feet or less than 3 foot elecation change
- Minimum of 1.2% soil organic matter
- No sand lenses or gravel layers
- Stable stream banks
- Absence of surface drainage (or willing to replace surface intakes with water-quality intakes)
- Tile maps available, or detailed knowledge of the tile system; including type, size, amount and location
Bioreactors
- Patterned tile system with 6-12 inch outlet
- Space for 100' x 25' pit
- Absence of surface drainage (or willing to replace surface intakes with water quality intakes)
- Tile maps available, or detailed knowledge of tile system, including type, size, amount and location.
Drainage Water Management
- Pancake flat. No more than 1% slope in management area
- Management area of at least 15 acres
- Laterals that follow contour lines
- Tile maps are necessary for DWM designs
- Patterened tile system with 6-12 inch outlet
- Absence of surface drainage (or willing to replace surface intakes with water quality intakes)
- Tile maps available, or detailed knowledge of tile system, including type, size, amount and location.
